Newsletter # 1
NEWSLETTER Issue # 1. July 2011
Finally, I have got around to doing a newsletter! A number of friends have asked to keep them notified of things happening in the local area, so this is a way I can let you all know at the same time.
For those of you who think there are not a lot of Maltese people around, well to that I say, MHUX VERA! ( not true!) I meet new people every week. I do hope I am spelling things the right way and if I’m not, as I’m trying to teach myself, someone please correct me.
And on the subject of learning to speak, read and write Maltese, how many of you would be interested in attending Maltese language lessons? I’ll be in it for one! I think it’s such a shame that there are no Maltese language schools in Brisbane, not like our lucky cousins in other parts of Australia.
For those of you who would like to meet and mix with other Maltesers, here is a list of the Maltese picnics held every month- just bring your own picnic needs and food etc.
On the LAST SUNDAY of the month except December, there is another group who meets at different locations around Brisbane, depending on the weather. The contact is Lucy (Rosaria) Stewart, but please email or phone me if you would like to attend.
Lucy also convenes the Maltese Radio Program on 98.1 FM where she announces where the next picnic or event is. Times for the Maltese radio are -
Tuesdays at 6.00 a.m - 8.00 a.m. and Sundays at 4.15 p.m.
For those of you who love ZALZETT (sausage) I will have a fresh batch next week, so please email or phone in your order.
Product of the month – QASSATAT –pronounced us a tart! Delicious bake in the oven Maltese shortcrust pastry ‘pies’ filled with either ricotta cheese OR pizelli & corned beef (with onion, olive, tomato). There are 6 in a bag(about 7cm diam ea) for $10.00.
HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS FIRST NEWSLETTER!
Sahha ghal issa (goodbye for now)
