About Us
We are Matt, Bec, Franklin and Cecilia, a young Maltese-Australian family living in Brisbane! Matt’s parents Joe and Doris were both born in Zurrieq, Malta. Doris’s family immigrated to Australia when she was 2 years old. They lived in Fitzroy, Melbourne Victoria. After living in Melbourne for a while, Doris and her family decided they would go back to Malta when Doris was aged 18 to try and settle back home.
Living in Malta, Doris managed to find employment as a Machinist at a factory called LadyTex in Marsa. Settling into life back on the rock, Doris then met Joe where they began dating. After six months of trying to settle back in Malta, Doris’s family decided that it was best for them to relocate back to Australia. They moved back to Melbourne in Reservoir.
Nine months later, Joe arrived following Doris to Australia. They got married and started a family. In 1988 they moved from the big smoke(Melbourne) to a simpler life in country Victoria in the small town of Winchelsea. This is where they raised their four children Jesmond, Michelle, Matt and Sefra.
As a child Matt went on many family visits back to Malta to visit family and he fell in love instantly with the Islands. He even went on a surprise trip by himself without telling anyone, caught the bus from the airport and knocked on the door of his Ziju and Zija’s house! After Matt & Bec met, Matt has taken Bec to Malta to meet the family a number of times and we finally have been able to go as a family.
We are passionate about continuing to bring the Maltese culture to Australia and we look forward to your continued support.
